How to Compress Images Without Ruining Details
Start with a representative photo, inspect text and edges at 100%, and only then process a batch.
Method
Lossy JPEG or WebP may create ringing around text or blocks in gradients. PNG often preserves sharp vector-like screenshot edges more faithfully. When a file-size target cannot be met without major quality loss, lower dimensions or choose a more appropriate source rather than claiming miraculous compression.
Verification and limitations
Record actual input and output bytes; a compressed export can be larger. For privacy-sensitive files, prefer local processing and verify metadata policy.
